What a wonderful thing to celebrate here in Indiana. The grass is beginning to turn green and the flowers are blooming … the early ones, anyway … the trees have buds on them … and the temperatures this week will be in the 70s! Yippee - Skippee!

I have a good friend who owns a really cool candy and gift shop, Sweet Things here in Indy, and she is doing FANTASTIC Easter baskets this year. She has a program to have the Easter Bunny himself deliver the baskets to you at.your.house. … to.your.kids. How super-cool is THAT!?!  We had a blast taking photographs at her shop … a yummy day of snapping and snacking! Sydney will be receiving the yellow duck up top from Mr. Easter Bunny this year. It is quite simply the softest thing I have ever felt … except maybe the velvety ears of our beloved Jack the Dog.

 We also did an email campaign for her to distribute to a contact list she got from a local bridal show she attended. We shot photos of some favor options and hospitality baskets and then co-branded with her to get my photography business out to the same list. I designed the graphics for her … here is the email we sent out …

I think it was a great send and we are hopeful that we will be grabbing people we wouldn’t otherwise be able to attract because of proximity or lack of advertising dollars. I think it WILL work, I have a plan to follow up with the list sometime in the next month. I have a few cool new products for engaged couples … a custom designed accordion book for favors or bragging and TONS of Save the Date card options and designs floating around in my head! If you are an engaged couple and you are looking for engagement photography … look no more! Call me and book a session … NOW! The Spring will be prime time for absolutely gorgeous photos!

 We took a ‘Family and Friends’ trip to Michigan to ski this President’s Weekend and had such a great time! Our friends each had a child around the same age as Sydney and they had such fun together. Since Sydney is an only child, she generally has to make new friends on her own each vacation, so this time was a bonus for her with two ‘old’ friends to hang out with for the weekend! 

 She enjoys skiing so much! She was a bit out of her element this trip because she is used to a bit different snow, but she did fine. The snow was wet and slippery, but otherwise fine. There was a coating of powdery snow on top, but by late afternoon the groom was gone and the crusty midwestern skiing was back. I skied only one day and then took photographs the rest of the time. It was fun to be able to do that! 

Rob and I surprised Sydney with a dog sledding trip. She LOVED it!! We teased her and gave her hints for two days and she never guessed it, but she was so excited when we pulled up to the location and she saw the dogs. She got to choose who rode the sled with her … who do you think she chose … her Daddy … at least I could take photos. 

The people did a nice job with the ride and were pleasant and friendly. They would love to have more business … check them out if you are in Northwestern Michigan … Wiggi’s Mountain-Side Huskies (1.800.556.3597 ext. 67). You’ll have to call them because they don’t have a website.  There were puppies, too. She had to pet them, of course … and if she would have asked her Daddy, he would have bought one for her. He is a sucker like that! But, she didn’t ask … so we don’t have a puppy. She is holding out for her German Shepherd, I think! That is what she REALLY wants after our beloved yellow Labrador, Jack, dies.  

There are so few photos like this that this was a special one! We rarely get the opportunity to have a photograph taken of the two of us since I’m generally behind the camera. Our friend, Amy, got to handle the big camera … on Auto, of course … and she did a great job! We actually look like we might be having fun here, too. Our whole group went on a Surrey ride … think sleigh with wheels … and had a great time. They had already cancelled the ride because no one was scheduled, but since we had a bigger group they ran one just for us. There were no strangers on the trip, just our little group. It was awesome!  Sydney enjoyed the big Belgians pulling the surrey, for sure!

I didn’t have any sessions this weekend because we had a crazy snowstorm, but it didn’t stop me from playing with my camera. Sydney LOVES to do this when she is playing in the snow … it is a bit of run and slide and then spread the wings to fly … she LOVES to do it!  She asks me to take her photo for these and enjoys looking at them … she thinks she looks cool! 

Then … the question of the day is … ARE YOU A REDNECK IF … you haul out the John Deere to go sledding??  I just ♥ the bokeh on this shot.  Sydney is a HUGE John Deere fan … it is the only tractor to have … GREEN ROCKS! 

I’m certain that the neighborhood thought we were crazy! They were likely video taping the process of getting it TO the walking path since we had to dig it out about 64,386,291 times through the three foot drifts and up the hill! 

BUT … it’s all worth it when you see this …

We had nearly eight inches of snow here in Central Indiana … more specifically … my yard on Friday. It was the kind of snow that you can make the Taj Mahal with … wet, heavy, and sticky! The BEST kind if you are an eight year old … the worst kind if you are the guy who has to snowblow the driveway.

My husband used the snowblower on Friday evening when he got home from work … but, much to his dismay, it had to be done AGAIN on Saturday morning because the drifting was absolutely nutty! However, I was as happy as a lark because I got the opportunity to grab my camera and snap some photos. I even got some cooperation … yippee!

The yard was a photographer’s dream. There were ripples and drifts … there was snow sticking to the fences and the trees … absolutely GOR-GE-OUS!  Wanna see??

Our neighbor has an amazing yard. They have evergreen trees surrounding their yard and a cool wrought iron fence. I grabbed a photo of the entry gate because it was covered with beautiful white snow.

And, just for good measure … I’m gonna give my husband a little more face time … my driveway being clear depends on it …

This particular print is on canvas and hangs in my basement flanked by a couple of other really cool Sydney photos. Love that girlie … and the camera sure does love her, too! I may use it to display in the Barnes and Noble Gallery showing I have scheduled for April as well.

When the photograph appears and is ready for public vote … be prepared … I’m gonna call on all my ‘peeps’ to vote!  I’ll remind you … don’t you worry!   Just as a note … I’m not terribly invested in this. I don’t need to win to gain validation … I don’t need this contest to tell me that I should be doing this. I have LOTS of people around me who keep telling me I should keep doing this … but it certainly will help me expand my reach beyond Carmel, Indiana!

I was able to take photographs of the Colts at a recent game … and wanted to share a few with you on this Superbowl Media Day!

Pat McAfee is fantastically important to our team but gets very little media … here is a cool action shot of him for you. When you see this it’s easy to see why you can’t hit the kicker!

Dallas is my favorite guy. He is an amazing man … our friends kids made the NFL network because Dallas is such an awesome guy! I wear his jersey on game days not because I am obsessed with him, but because he is a man that I’d like to see kids admire.

I.love.youth.sports.  I grew up in a couple of different youth programs … the first as a child in Whiteland and then as an adolescent in the Center Grove program. The programming in our current area is similar and our daughter is just beginning to reap the rewards of the athletic offerings.  I wish her many years of athletic experimentation and success.

A few girls … besides my girly … get some ‘face time’ today on the blog … no names … just a talent showcase! They do a great job … and we are certainly glad they are on our team!!

I do enjoy taking photographs of the kids playing sports and I am available for events in the Indianapolis area. I offer individual, as well as team, photos. Welcome to the NEW Stacy Green Photography Blog!

I have officially launched the brand with no-holds-barred! I am focusing on building the brand and getting my name out there in the community. I have launched this new business NAME … not a new business, as I was already taking photographs, but a new name to put the marketing plan in line with the intended client base. I have had SO much support from my friends and family and am thankful that they are proud to pass on my name. I’m glad I let them talk me in to focusing on ‘people portaits’! Those cool graphics up there ^ … those are pictures of my business cards. Pretty cool, huh! I’m pretty happy with the way they turned out … and I’m proud to hand them out.

Some of you are thinking … what is going on here?!?! … Many of you know my photography as Black Saddle Photography … well, it’s not going away … it is going to be a part of SGP and will remain focused on Equine Photography. It became apparent that I needed a business name that would let me focus my marketing on ‘people portraits’, thus the Stacy Green Photography brand was born. I know, it doesn’t seem very creatively named … but people want to know what a business is right away and they love to know who is running the show … therefore … Stacy Green (that’s me) Photography (that’s what I do) works out pretty well, I think. I am excited to launch this new brand. I had been taking photographs of people all along, it just wasn’t terribly obvious since my business name was seemingly horse focused.

I’ve added past photo shoots to share a sampling of my work with you … and I look forward to continuing to sharing more ‘Sneak Peeks’ with you. I’ll also share exclusive SPECIALS and NEWS right here on my SGP Blog.
